HMA Newsletter February Edition

"Every style of martial arts has something to offer. Pick up a good move, rehearse it, practice it, understand it, and then think about the counter. Then it is yours." -Grand Master Bobby Taboada

I would like to encourage you all to send any ideas that you have for Golden Dragon Ohana events and newsletter updates to Jayme Esperanza by sending her an email at news@hayesmartialarts.com so that she can continue to keep us connected through these great monthly newsletters.

Special Thanks to Grand Master Pete Morales for being a guest instructor at HMA last Thursday, 1/28! We would also like to thank Sifu Monica and the students from Kajukenbo Forever for joining us in this special class and for taking part in some sparring matches with the HMA students. It is always a pleasure to see different schools within our Kajukenbo Ohana under one roof to share what they've learned of our art.

HMA Testimonial
of the Month -

SIGUNG SHAWN HAYES

Growing up in the art of Kajukenbo, I became familiar with the basic principles of many arts. Whether kicking, punching, or grabbing; it seemed that Kajukenbo bridged the gap in all ranges of fighting. Kajukenbo teaches us to go out and continue growing and learning. Now Imagine how I felt when I first seen and experienced Balintawak for the first time up close. Balintawak, with its quick, powerful and direct moves was just what I was looking for to compliment my training. What is so wonderful about Balintawak is that it helps enhance, build, and strengthen the attributes to make anyone a great fighter. What do you get when you combine these two incredible arts? . . .

Hayes Martial Arts – That’s what!

Food For Thought:

If you think you are beaten, you are;
If you think that you dare not, you don't;
If you'd like to win, but you think you can't,
It's almost certain you won't.

If you think you'll lose, you've lost;
For out in the world you'll find
Success begins with a person's will -
It's all in the state of mind.

If you think you are outclassed, you are;
You've got to think high to rise;
You've got to be sure of yourself
You can ever win a prize

Life's battles don't always go;
To the stronger or faster man;
But sooner or later the person who wins
Is the one who thinks he can.
